DES MOINES -- Setting out on his first solo campaign trip as John Kerry's running mate, John Edwards said Wednesday that the Democratic presidential candidate has yet to become fully familiar to voters, and Edwards believes it is his role to tackle the problem.Do Americans really want to know John Kerry the way John Edwards does?
"They don't know him very well," Edwards said in an interview aboard his campaign plane. "I think our responsibility--my responsibility--is to make sure that Americans know him as much as possible the way I know him..."

Googlism
Now, I don't want to imply that Muslims live repressed lives which result in some odd behavior, but in the last two days I have gotten hits from:
- Saudi Arabia, searching for "rape moved see"
- Pakistan, searching for "sadia imam having sex"
- Iran, searching for "bizarre sex practices"
I have not gotten any referrals searching for sexual content in the English-speaking world. It's probably nothing, but it just struck me as sort of odd.

The blazing speed of breaking news
On December 10, 2003, Army public affairs issued a press release about an Iraq sculptor who melted down two Saddam statues he had created and made them into a memorial to American soldiers.
On July 14, 2004, barely seven months later, the Associated Press caught wind of it.
Way to be on the ball, people.
